A man has alleged that Phillip Shaibu, deputy governor of Edo state, "confiscated" his Daytona Gold watch with diamond studs and his diamond ring during a controversial encounter with security agents before the elections.

According to the man, he and others were allegedly abducted and taken to Benin City, where they were subjected to a coerced attempt to plant a gun on them. In the ensuing scuffle, he claims, his jewelry was seized.

This is quite the sensational allegation, and if true, it has severe implications for the deputy governor.

This man's story doesn't end there! He claims that after being detained and giving a statement regarding the alleged seizure of his watch by the deputy governor's security personnel, his fingerprints were taken as part of the investigation.

However, after it was determined that the firearm in question was not his, his watch was never returned.

He then asserts that weeks later, while attending a cultural congress in the US, he spotted the very same timepiece adorning the deputy governor's wrist.

Upon his return to Nigeria, the man says he promptly filed a report with the police, but alleges that there has been a lack of action by the state police, prompting him to take the matter up with the police headquarters in Abuja.

Not one to be trifled with, the man has boldly declared that he will retrieve his wristwatch from the deputy governor at any cost and "make a public scene" should he encounter him.
