A man was electrocuted while attempting to steal transformer cables from a secondary school in Imo State.

The incident occurred at the Government Secondary School in Owerri, where the school's security guard, Mr. Iwu, believes the man scaled the school's fence late at night to access the transformer donated by the Old Boys Association.

Mr. Iwu believes that the man was electrocuted when power was restored by the electricity company around 1am.

The principal of the school, Mr. Chukwujindu Anyikwa, also commented on the incident, saying that the school notified the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), who then visited the school to assess the situation.

Mr. Anyikwa explained that he was advised by the police to contact the DPO of the Shell Camp Police Station, who referred him to the mortuary at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri.
