Man finally exonerated After spending 24 Years in prison for a crime he didn't commit

His ordeal began in 2000 when he accompanied a friend to a police station, only to be detained and subjected to physical and psychological torture, leading to coerced confessions. Despite his protests of innocence, he was sentenced to death and spent 15 years on death row.

Astonishingly, it was a chance encounter with a Pastor and the intervention of the Centre for Justice Mercy and Reconciliation (CJMR) that ultimately led to his exoneration. The organization, led by Pastor Hezekiah Olujobi, listened to Adeyemi's story, examined the judgement, and discovered contradictions that proved his innocence.

With the help of CJMR, Adeyemi's case was brought to the attention of the Ogun State Attorney-General and the Committee for the Board of Prerogative of Mercy, resulting in his release on June 14, 2024.

Adeyemi's story is a testament to the power of hope, redemption, and the importance of organizations like CJMR that fight for justice and mercy.
