Maureen Okam Achebe, daughter of renowned novelist Chinua Achebe, has been awarded the esteemed 2024 Faculty Development and Diversity Award by Brigham and Women's Hospital, a leading academic medical center and Harvard Medical School teaching hospital.

Dr. Okam Achebe is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, director of several programs at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a prominent figure in sickle cell disease research and advocacy.
She has made significant contributions to the development of new treatments and policies aimed at addressing the burden of sickle cell disease in Africa. The award ceremony will take place on October 28, honoring Dr. Okam Achebe's outstanding accomplishments in her field.
