At just 37 years old, she becomes the country's youngest-ever leader and the second female to hold the office.

"I am honored to lead our great nation," Paetongtarn said. "I promise to work tirelessly for the people of Thailand and restore our country's prosperity."

Her appointment comes after Thailand's parliament voted in her favor, following the removal of former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office by the Constitutional Court.

Paetongtarn's victory is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Shinawatra family, who have dominated Thai politics for over two decades.

"My family has always been committed to serving Thailand," Paetongtarn added. "I will continue this tradition and ensure our country's bright future."

Paetongtarn's father, Thaksin Shinawatra, was ousted in a military coup in 2006, while her aunt, Yingluck Shinawatra, suffered a similar fate in 2014. However, Paetongtarn's election signals a new era for the Shinawatra dynasty and Thai politics.
