The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a 25% increase in the salaries of academic staff in public tertiary institutions.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made this announcement at a meeting with the Joint Action Committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).

The minister said the decision was made in the interest of students, the nation's educational sector, and the economy.
