A Nigerian woman, Margaret Oyibo Atayi, has reportedly taken her own life due to her failed marriage.

According to reports, Margaret, an Idoma woman from Ugbokolo, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State, was last seen near City College of Education in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, around 3 am on Friday, May 17.

Confirming her death, her grieving father, Mr. Atayi, stated, “Margaret was a mother of two children. She had been suffering from depression for some time due to mistreatment by her husband. She went out early that Friday morning without anyone's knowledge. Her body was discovered late on Monday, and all available evidence confirmed that she committed suicide.”

Her sister, Stella Ameh, responding to a comment on Facebook, said, “Yes, she fell into depression, left her parents’ house for an unknown destination the day she went missing, and was found dead after taking her own life. Her suffering was caused by the man she married from Orokam, whose first wife also died under similar circumstances. Now that you know what happened, go and get the FBI to arrest the demented man from Ogbadibo for her death.”

It was reported that Margaret was happily married to her husband from Orokam, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, after the death of his first wife. They lived abroad with their two children before he later relocated her back to Nigeria and abandoned her with their two kids. She ended her life because she could no longer take care of her children.
