In a shocking case of domestic violence, Themba Stsompana Mahlangu, a 45-year-old South African man, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, Tumelo Maria Mamogale.

According to the statement released by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mahlangu and the deceased were living together in Mashishing, Thaba Chweu, when the incident occurred on October 4, 2022. The neighbors of the deceased heard her screaming and went to investigate, only to find Mahlangu violently assaulting her.

Mahlangu allegedly stopped the assault when the neighbours intervened, but continued to assault the deceased once they left. The attack turned fatal when Mahlangu stabbed the deceased with a broken bottle.

When the deceased became unresponsive, Mahlangu fled the scene. Despite efforts to save her life, the deceased succumbed to her injuries.

Mahlangu was arrested later that day and pleaded not guilty in court, claiming that he and the deceased were attacked by four unknown men.
