NCC Cracks Down on Telecom Operators: Limits Tariff Plans to 7 for Enhanced Transparency

This move is aimed at promoting transparency, improving consumer understanding, and fostering fair competition among operators.

"We are committed to ensuring that the telecommunications industry is transparent and consumer-friendly," said Professor Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of NCC. "The new tariff guidelines will help subscribers make informed decisions and avoid confusion."

The NCC has also reduced the number of bundles offered per operator to 100, emphasizing that no subscriber can be on more than one tariff plan at a time. This move is expected to simplify the tariff structure and prevent operators from overwhelming subscribers with numerous options.

"A tariff plan is a structured pricing scheme that outlines the charges and conditions under which telecommunications services are provided to subscribers," explained Professor Danbatta. "By limiting the number of tariff plans, we are ensuring that operators are transparent and fair in their pricing."

The new tariff guidelines are designed to enhance consumer protection and promote competition among operators. The NCC has also encouraged subscribers to report any violations of the new guidelines to ensure effective enforcement.

"We are confident that these new guidelines will improve the overall quality of service and enhance the subscriber experience," said Professor Danbatta. "We will continue to monitor the industry and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that subscribers receive the best possible service."
