The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a groundbreaking discovery, uncovering creative methods used by drug traffickers to smuggle cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids out of the country.

NDLEA Uncovers Creative Methods of Drug Trafficking: Cocaine and Opioids Hidden in Sanitary Pads and Hair Cream

According to NDLEA's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, "We have intercepted consignments of cocaine and opioids concealed in ladies' sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers heading to the UK, Ireland, and Cyprus."

Babafemi revealed that NDLEA officers recovered 30 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.1 kilograms hidden in hair cream containers destined for Ireland.

Another consignment of 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862 grams was also intercepted at the same logistics company, meant for delivery in the UK.

In addition, NDLEA operatives seized 525 pills of tramadol and ecstasy concealed in ladies' sanitary pads at another courier firm in Lagos, bound for Cyprus.

"These discoveries highlight the innovative methods used by drug traffickers to evade detection," Babafemi said. "However, our officers are equally creative and determined to intercept these illegal substances."

The NDLEA spokesperson emphasized the agency's commitment to combating drug trafficking, stating, "We will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt the supply chain of illicit drugs and bring perpetrators to justice."

This latest discovery underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring and inspection of cargo shipments to prevent drug trafficking.

As Babafemi noted, "The NDLEA is dedicated to protecting public health and safety by preventing the flow of illegal drugs into and out of the country."
