In a bid to tackle corruption and maintain the integrity of its operations, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended an officer indefinitely for begging a traveler at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

"The officer's actions were unacceptable and a clear violation of our code of conduct," said Amos Okpu, NIS spokesperson. "We will not tolerate any behavior that compromises the trust and confidence of the public."

According to eyewitnesses, the officer was seen begging a traveler for money, an act that sparked outrage and prompted swift action from the NIS.

"We take allegations of corruption seriously and will investigate thoroughly," Okpu added.

"This suspension serves as a warning to all officers that we will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against anyone found engaging in unprofessional conduct."
