A man named Onuora Innoma, who is middle-aged, has been taken into custody for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at Ado Girls Secondary School in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The man, who was arrested by the police, reportedly admitted to the crime.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, stated that she had ordered the immediate detention of the suspect following his arrest at Inland Town Police Division in Onitsha.

She expressed strong disapproval of the act of preying on underage girls and promised to use all legal means to ensure the perpetrator faces consequences as a deterrent to others.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect confessed to committing the crime.

Ikenga explained that the case involved rape and that the victim was tested to confirm the assault. He also mentioned that the state government has approved a special court for gender-related cases like this.

He emphasized the importance of parents and guardians being vigilant and protecting their children to prevent them from becoming victims of such crimes.
