The project, which aims to revamp the refinery, has been plagued by delays, leaving many to wonder when it will finally come to fruition.

"We regret to inform the public that the Port Harcourt refinery kick-off has been postponed again due to unforeseen circumstances," said NNPCL's spokesperson.

"We understand the importance of this project and are working tirelessly to resolve the issues and get the refinery back on track."

The refinery, which has been shut down since 2019, was initially scheduled to restart operations in 2020.

However, the project has faced numerous delays, with the latest postponement being the sixth time the kick-off has been pushed back.

"This is unacceptable," said a local resident.

"We were promised that the refinery would be up and running by now, but it seems like the NNPCL is not taking this project seriously."

The NNPCL has attributed the delays to various factors, including funding issues and technical challenges.

However, many are skeptical about the company's ability to deliver on its promises.

"We need transparency and accountability," said a stakeholders' representative. "The NNPCL needs to provide clear explanations for these delays and a realistic timeline for the project's completion."

The Port Harcourt refinery is a critical asset for Nigeria's oil industry, and its revamp is seen as essential for the country's economic growth.

However, the repeated delays have raised concerns about the project's viability and the NNPCL's capacity to manage it effectively.
