The administration of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has clarified the confusion surrounding a viral circular regarding a purported new dress code for its students.

According to the university's spokesperson, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, in an interview with our team on Monday, the circular in question was not officially issued by the university's administration.

"Mr. Olarewaju clarified that while the university is considering implementing a dress code, it is crucial for them to tread lightly and not infringe on anyone's rights.

The alleged viral circular threatened students with rustication for violations such as wearing clothing deemed sexually provocative, off-shoulder tops, or short shorts.

Additionally, it warned against physical contact like unwanted touching, kissing, and hugging between opposite sexes, which could result in a two-semester suspension.
