Despite testing negative for the BRCA gene and having clear mammogram results, her doctor calculated her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score as a precaution. The actress stated that her doctor's actions saved her life, as her lifetime risk was determined to be 37 percent.
After further tests confirmed luminal B cancer in both breasts, Munn underwent the double mastectomy and four surgeries over the next 10 months. She credits her family, friends, and partner, John Mulaney, for their unwavering support during her cancer battle.
Munn expressed gratitude to her healthcare providers, the hospitals where she received treatment, and her OBGYN, Dr. ThaĂŻs Aliabadi, whom she called her "guardian angel."
