The Oyo State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation into the gruesome murder of 14-year-old Malik Kareem, who was allegedly beheaded for money ritual purposes in Ibadan.

This was confirmed by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Osifeso, during an interview on Monday.

"We are aware of the incident and have immediately commenced investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice," Mr. Osifeso stated. "We assure the public that an update on the investigation will be made available once it is concluded."

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening in the Olorisaoko community within the Akinyele Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the victim, who had recently completed his final subject for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), was lured into the ritual by a Muslim cleric, who is now on the run.

According to sources, the victim and three of his peers had sought the cleric's services for a money ritual, but the cleric had demanded that they kill one of their own as part of the ritual.

The three boys allegedly agreed to the cleric's demand, leading to the brutal killing of their friend.

The police have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in their investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
