Pastor Adeboye's Road Construction Claim Sparks Outrage: 'A Tale of Deception?'

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has come under fire for sharing a story that many believe is fabricated.

Pastor Adeboye's Road Construction Claim Sparks Outrage: 'A Tale of Deception?'

During a sermon, Adeboye claimed that one of his daughters was offered a road construction project worth N3 million but turned it down when government officials asked her to inflate the cost to N33 million.

"One of my daughters got a contract to tar a road in one of the states in Nigeria. She gave a proposal of N3 million, but they asked her to put N33 million.

“She was surprised, turned down the offer, and said 'I am a child of God, how will I spend the money?' They looked at her as if she was somebody who dropped from the sky," Adeboye said.

Netizens have expressed outrage, questioning the validity of Adeboye's story.

Many argue that it's impossible for a road construction project in Nigeria to cost as low as N3 million, suggesting that the cleric was being dishonest.

"This is a blatant lie! There's no way a road construction project in Nigeria can cost N3 million. Pastor Adeboye should stop deceiving his followers," said a social media user.

Others have called for Adeboye to provide evidence to support his claim, saying that his story lacks credibility.

Here are some Netizens reactions:

@Moh: 3 million, Na compound interlocking? 😂

@Ugo: Another cup of tea story, you lie too much 3 million to tar Road for Nigeria shay na Road to heaven?

@local Werey: DJ YK – Mule!! As we’re a hungry nation, baba has decided to feed us!

@Sass: This is a misleading. Context: this happened in 1983, when 3 million was obviously enough for the said project.

In 2024, we all know it’s impossible do the same project for 10X the price, so I think he was only telling a story that happened 41 years ago.

@Ola Not Mide: Nigerians should learn to emulate people like her

A better Nigeria is only possible when we collectively shun corruption and wrong doings like this
