Following the tragic collapse of Saints Academy in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday, July 12, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has ordered the closure of the school. The incident resulted in 22 deaths and 154 injuries.

The governor also directed the arrest of artisanal miners operating in residential areas and declared a three-day mourning period from July 13 to July 15, during which flags will be flown at half-mast. The state government will bear the cost of treating the injured students and has urged citizens to adhere to building codes and ethics to prevent such tragedies.

An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway, and the government has commended first responders and citizens who donated blood and resources to aid the injured.
