Chaos erupted on Monday, July 29, at the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Akoka, Lagos, as police allegedly used teargas and arrested staff and students protesting against the college's provost, Dr. Wahab Azeez.

The protesters were demonstrating against Azeez's alleged unlawful tenure in office.

According to eyewitnesses, police used teargas and force to disperse the protesters, resulting in 32 arrests. The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the protesters had attacked a Ministry of Education team sent to mediate the impasse, damaging vehicles and property.

The police restored order after being attacked with stones and water sachets. The situation remains tense, with police still on the scene to maintain peace.
