President Tinubu Mandates Transition to CNG-Powered Vehicles for Government Use

President Bola Tinubu has prohibited members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) from buying petrol-dependent vehicles.

He has instead mandated the procurement of compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies.

This directive, according to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, is part of Tinubu's efforts to ensure energy security, promote efficiency, and reduce high fuel expenses.

The move aligns with Nigeria's push towards cleaner energy, as CNG vehicles are known to produce lower emissions and offer a more cost-effective option for energy consumers in Nigeria.

President Tinubu emphasized his administration's unwavering commitment to energy reforms, stating that progress demands moving beyond the status quo.

He urged FEC members to lead by example in adopting CNG vehicles, highlighting the importance of setting a precedent for the nation's energy future.

As part of the directive, President Tinubu instructed FEC members to reject any proposals for purchasing traditional petrol-dependent vehicles, urging them to prioritize value-driven procurement of CNG-compliant vehicles.

The President's goal is to harness Nigeria's gas potential, reduce transportation costs, and enhance the overall standard of living for Nigerians.
