Amidst a recent spate of cult violence in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, the authorities have declared a dusk to dawn curfew on commercial motorcycles and tricycles, citing their alleged role in the escape of perpetrators.
In a statement released by the LG Chairman, Jubril Odulate, the curfew was announced in order to curb the ongoing cult-related violence and protect the lives and property of residents.
The statement noted that perpetrators have been utilizing motorcycles and tricycles to escape the scene of their crimes, and that the curfew is a measure to prevent further violence.Several sources in the community of Ayegbami, Sagamu Local Government, have reported a deadly attack by suspected cultists on Sunday.
According to the sources, the suspected cultists came to the home of a rival member, but when they could not find him, they opened fire, killing six people.
Two of the victims were reportedly shot in the head, and have been identified by the police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an unknown woman.
The police have refuted claims of the high number of casualties on social media, but have not given an official number of victims.
