In Kano State, Nigeria, six people have been arrested for chanting provocative slogans against the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
The incident occurred during the inauguration of the Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital, when the accused persons disrupted the ceremony by shouting "New governor, new Emir."
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hussaini Gumel, said that the suspects were disturbing the peace and allegedly calling for the governor to replace the emir.
The accused have been taken into custody and are facing charges.
Investigation is ongoing to identify more suspects and their sponsors.
“That group of people were not invited to the event. They were intruders who came on their own, and they must have been sponsored by somebody or a group of persons.
“Six persons have been identified. We used technology to track them down. We are still analysing the video footage and we are making efforts to arrest all those involved. We are also making efforts to get the sponsors.
