An alleged attack by armed robbers has left two police officers injured and a patrol van burnt at Oleh/Ozoro Roundabout in Delta State.

Reports say the police officers, who are part of the Police Dragon unit, were shot before the patrol van was set ablaze.

The incident comes just a week after another officer, Inspector Jude Ukpaka, was shot and killed along the Ogor/Evwreni stretch of the East-West road.

According to an eyewitness, a commercial driver who regularly plies the route, all vehicles on the road were forced to park and their passengers were made to run into the bush while the robbers shot indiscriminately.

Though the fate of the two injured officers is not known, the witness confirmed that the patrol van was set ablaze by the attackers.

Another unconfirmed source indicated that the robbers may have come in large numbers and, after shooting the officers, set the van on fire.

The robbers' possible looting of weapons and other belongings of the officers is not known at this time.
