The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has tendered an unreserved apology to Nigerians following Team Nigeria's dismal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the country failed to secure a single medal.

"I want to apologize to all Nigerians for our disappointing outing at the Paris 2024 Olympics," Enoh said. "We know that our performance fell short of expectations, and for that, we are truly sorry."

Nigeria's last hope for a medal, Hannah Reuben, lost her second-round fight in the women's freestyle wrestling 76kg category to Mongolia's Davaanasan Amar Enkh, ending the country's campaign without a medal.

"We had high hopes for our athletes, but unfortunately, things didn't go as planned," Enoh added. "We will go back to the drawing board, assess our performance, and work towards doing better in the future."

The Sports Minister John Enoh acknowledged the disappointment and frustration felt by Nigerians, promising the citizens of the country to take concrete steps to improve the country's sporting performance.

"We understand the disappointment and frustration of Nigerians, and we share in it," Enoh said. "We will work tirelessly to ensure that our athletes receive the necessary support and resources to excel on the global stage."
