The student pleaded guilty to the charge of rape at the Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola. Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison after he pleaded guilty to the offence, which contravenes section 260 of the penal code law.

According to the prosecution, the student was caught having sex with the mentally ill woman on June 26, 2024. The First Information Report tendered in court alleged that the defendant had sexual intercourse with the victim on three occasions. The prosecutor, Inspector Galeon Nimrod, informed the court that the defendant was caught by one Habu Jibrilla, who reported the matter to the Karewa Police Station.

The defendant's actions have sparked outrage, and the court's decision to remand him in prison custody reflects the severity of the offense. The case serves as a reminder that sexual assault and rape will not be tolerated in any form.
