In an unanimous decision, the Supreme Court rejected Labour Party candidate Peter Obi's appeal to invalidate the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Justice Inyang Okoro, delivering the lead judgment, found that the issues raised in Obi's case were already decided in a separate appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The only difference, according to Justice Okoro, was that Obi's appeal raised the issue of double nominations of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
