Dr. Maxwell Ngene, an ESUT alumnus, confirmed the abduction and described it as "cruel and inhumane." Dr. Ilo's recent loss of his wife, whose body is still at the Eastern Nigeria Hospital Enugu, adds to the tragedy

The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of 20 million Naira, with Dr. Ilo pleading for help in a distressing phone call. A family source mentioned a higher demand of 50 million Naira.

Dr. Ilo's car has been recovered by the authorities, but efforts to obtain a reaction from the police were unsuccessful.

Dr. Ngene condemned the act and appealed to security agencies, the government, and the public to ensure the safe release of Dr. Ilo and his son, and to provide any information that could assist in rescuing the victims.
