Veteran Nollywood actor Fred Amata recently called out his ex-wife, Agatha Amata, for walking their daughter, Stephanie, down the aisle without his consent, despite being alive and present in the same city.

Fred expressed his frustration on social media, calling the act an "abomination" and a violation of traditional African values, where the father typically plays the role of giving the daughter away in marriage. 

He emphasized that such customs are especially important when the father is alive, willing, and able to perform the ritual, adding that he had already given his blessings to the union.

The actor lamented that the wedding date and time were kept secret from him, leading to his exclusion from the ceremony. 

He also accused Agatha of using this moment as part of a long-standing effort to tarnish his image, referencing the bitter aftermath of their divorce in 2005. 

He recounted how he played a significant role in Agatha's career success, particularly in the creation of the hit talk show “Inside-Out with Agatha”, which he claims was his intellectual property. 

According to Fred, Agatha's success has come at the expense of his reputation, which she allegedly exploited over the years.

Fred's emotional post sparked considerable online debate, with many weighing in on both sides of the issue, as the Nollywood star highlighted the cultural significance of a father's role in his daughter's wedding.
