The Ogun State Police Command detained three individuals for the alleged attempted murder of a commercial motorcycle rider in the Afonta area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Monsuru Musa, Adija Monsuru, and Shehu Dikko allegedly assaulted an okada rider named Tijanni on the evening of March 4, causing severe injuries to his head, neck, and lip.

Monsuru requested Tijanni to take her to the Soyeye area from Lafenwa in Abeokuta. However, when they reached an isolated area just before the Soyeye community, Monsuru asked Tijanni to stop the motorcycle to call her friend. Musa and Dikko arrived at the scene shortly after and joined her on the motorcycle.

As Tijanni was about to start the motorcycle, Musa and Dikko attempted to strangle him with a rope around his neck, while Monsuru allegedly struck him on the head with a large piece of wooden plank. The victim screamed for help, prompting other motorcyclists, residents, and police officers to intervene and apprehend the suspects before they could escape through a nearby bush.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the incident and described the suspects as members of a notorious syndicate who planned to steal the motorcycle. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the suspects will face prosecution for their actions.
