In a major achievement, Nigerian singer Tems was named by TIME magazine as one of the most influential people in the international music industry.

The magazine's 2023 TIME's Next 100 list included Tems as one of the people "who have achieved peak influence in their fields".

Grammy-winning singer Mary J. Blige, who wrote about Tems for the magazine, compared her to legendary musician Nina Simone, noting that they both "sing with emotion and conviction".

Blige also expressed hope that Tems would become one of the biggest artists of her time.
