The second annual Tobago Carnival will be centered in the capital city of Scarborough, according to Dr Charleston Thomas, technical adviser in the Tobago House of Assembly's Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation.
The three-day event, which will take place from October 27-29, is expected to bring a boost to the local economy and attract visitors to the island. Carnival-goers can expect a variety of entertainment and activities, from music concerts to parades, as well as a mix of old and new traditions.
During the stakeholder consultation for residents of the Tobago region and its environs, Dr Charleston Thomas, the technical advisor in the Tobago House of Assembly's Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation, was accompanied by Antonia Thomas and Patrice Fraser of the Tobago Festivals Commission.
The division has been in touch with promoters, bandleaders, and service providers to plan for Tobago's second annual carnival.
Thomas expressed regret that they were unable to meet with cultural groups, but assured the public that they will be included in the planning process.
