A devastating incident occurred in Asaba, Delta State, on July 27, when a section of a nine-storey building under construction collapsed, resulting in the death of a bricklayer and injuring several others.

Eyewitnesses reported that the deceased was working with a cement mixer when the walls on the ninth floor suddenly collapsed, killing him instantly.

Concerns have been raised about the quality of work and whether the necessary approvals were obtained before commencing the project.

In response, Delta State Commissioner of Urban Renewal Michael Anoka has ordered the building to be sealed and an investigation to be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse.

This tragic event comes just days after a similar building collapse in Lagos claimed the lives of five people.
