The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the passing of Prof. Ruth Haruna Wazis, a former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri, following a tragic accident at her home.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal, revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Lawal explained that Prof. Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical failure caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, striking her and pinning her to the ground.

Unfortunately, Prof. Wazis succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to the hospital. Her remains were subsequently taken to the hospital by her family members.
