London-based boxer Sherif Lawal has passed away after collapsing in the ring during his professional debut on Sunday.

Lawal, 29, was knocked down by Portuguese opponent Malam Varela in the fourth round of a middleweight bout at Harrow Leisure Centre. Despite receiving treatment from paramedics at the scene and being taken to the hospital, he was later pronounced dead.

The British Boxing Board of Control expressed condolences to Lawal's family, with Warren Boxing Management, who represented Lawal, also extending their sympathies to his family, friends, coaches, and all those close to him.
