Two Laborers Bailed After Stealing 518 Building Blocks

Two laborers, Denial Tongpan and Bartholomew Benjamin, have been charged with conspiracy and theft by the police after they allegedly stole 518 building blocks from a local resident in Lugbe, Abuja.

The two men, ages 33 and 18, pleaded not guilty to the charges in Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court.

The complainant, Samuel Yunisa, had reported the incident to the Trade More Police Station on August 18th.

The two men had allegedly stolen the building blocks from Mr. Yunisa's property on August 17th, with a total value of N192,000. The case is still pending.

The prosecutor in the case stated that during the police investigation, both defendants admitted to stealing the building blocks and provided a confession.

He said that the charges were in violation of Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mr. Aliyu Kagarko, granted each defendant bail in the amount of N30,000 with a surety in like sum. The surety must live within the court's jurisdiction and provide a valid identification document.

The case has been adjourned until August 28th for a hearing.
