Two Suspected Kidnappers Arrested for Extortion Threats in Jigawa State

The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Ahmed Audu and Adebayo Abayomi, suspected of kidnapping, for threatening a 52-year-old businessman and his family members.

The suspects demanded money from the victim, warning him of dire consequences if their demands were not met.

According to the command's spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the suspects have confessed to the crime. Their arrest marks a successful operation by the police in combating kidnapping and extortion in the state.

The statement reads

“On 16/05/24 at about 1100hrs, one Dauda Adamu ‘m’ 52yrs of Zadau village B/Kudu LGA reported at B/Kudu Division that, unknown persons called him on the phone with GSM No. 07041160745 and threatened him to give them money or else the risk of being kidnapped together with his family,” the statement read.

"Upon receipt of the report, Policemen attached to the B/Kudu Division swung into action.

"On 19/05/24, following a tip-off, one Ahmed Audu ‘m’ aged 27yrs of Basirka town, Gwaram LGA and one Adebayo Abayomi ‘m’ 26yrs of Ogigi village Ijumu LGA of Kogi state, were arrested and brought to the Station for investigation.

"Consequently, the suspects were transferred to SCID Dutse for a discreet investigation.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and the SIM Pack of the number used in calling the complainant was recovered from them.”
