Value-Based Pricing: Shallipopi's Take on Artistes' Performance Fees

In a recent interview with News Central TV, Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, shared his insights on how artistes should determine their performance fees.

Value-Based Pricing: Shallipopi's Take on Artistes' Performance Fees

He emphasized that an artiste's value is directly tied to the success and reach of their music.

Shallipopi disputed the notion that Nigerian artistes have overpriced themselves out of the local market, instead advocating for a value-based pricing approach.

He stated: "It depends on your music and where it has gotten, that is what your price is going to be. If your music has gotten the same stream as an American artiste, you should be charging the same way they charge, but if it's not up to that, you cannot overcharge."

This approach ensures that artistes are compensated fairly based on their music's impact and popularity.

Shallipopi's comments spark a conversation about the need for a more nuanced understanding of artistes' performance fees, moving beyond the notion of overpricing.

By linking an artiste's value to their music's success, Shallipopi's perspective encourages a more equitable and market-driven approach to pricing.

As the music industry continues to evolve, this value-based pricing approach may become a benchmark for artistes and promoters alike.
