Bayer Leverkusen and Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has been named the German Bundesliga Rookie of the Season.

He outperformed RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, Borussia Dortmund’s Ian Maatsen, and Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier for the prestigious award.

Boniface, 23, secured the Rookie of the Month titles for August, September, October, and November.

However, his impressive early-season form was interrupted by an injury, causing him to miss much of the latter part of the campaign from December to April.

Despite this setback, he scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 22 games during his debut Bundesliga season with the German champions.

Boniface’s early contributions were crucial, laying the foundation for Leverkusen’s current pursuit of a treble and an unbeaten season.

His performance highlights the potential heights he could have reached if not for the injury interruptions.
