Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been re-arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The DSS had earlier arraigned Emefiele on two counts of illegal possession of firearms, after which the former CBN governor was released on bail.

However, he was re-arrested as he was leaving the court premises.

After Justice Nicolas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos granted Mr. Emefiele bail in the sum of N20 million and a surety in like sum, prison officials attempted to take him into custody.

However, they were prevented from doing so by DSS operatives, who manhandled the leader of the prison officials.

After the prison vehicles drove off, DSS operatives positioned their vehicles around the court and massed outside the courtroom.
