Funk was born in Amarillo, Texas, and followed in his father's footsteps as a professional wrestler.In the 1980s, Funk rose to fame as a tag-team wrestler with his brother at WrestleMania 2.

After that, he had a successful solo career in both the U.S. and Japan, where he competed for more than 50 years.

Funk's career highlights included memorable matches against the likes of Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and Shawn Michaels, and he was known for his signature "piledriver" wrestling move.

Despite his age and health issues, Funk remained active in the wrestling community, regularly attending events and engaging with fans.
