In a disturbing incident, Nwalobi Fredrick, a 41-year-old man from Ekwulobia, Anambra State, has been arrested by police operatives for allegedly impregnating his 16-year-old in-law.

The suspect was taken into custody after the victim’s family reported the incident to the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner’s office in Awka.

According to Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, media aide to the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, the suspect attempted to shift the blame for his actions, stating, “The devil made me do it.” However, the victim provided a different account of events.

The 16-year-old girl revealed that she was placed in her in-law’s care in late January to complete her secondary education after her mother’s passing. She alleged that Nwalobi first assaulted her just a day after she moved into his house and continued to exploit her sexually, resulting in her pregnancy.

The suspect’s claim of demonic influence has raised eyebrows, and the case has sparked widespread outrage. The incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and protection for vulnerable individuals, particularly children, from predatory behavior.

The police have taken Nwalobi into custody, and an investigation is underway. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions and ensuring justice is served.
