Bobrisky Appeals Conviction and Sentence, Seeks Fine Instead of Jail Time

In the appeal, filed before Justice Abimbola Awogboro, he is requesting that the Court of Appeal overturn the six-month maximum imprisonment sentence imposed on him and instead impose a fine of N50,000 for each count.

Bobrisky faced a four-count charge for tampering with the naira (legal tender), contravening Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007. He was convicted and sentenced by Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division.

Dissatisfied with the April 12, 2024, sentencing, Bobrisky is asking the court to reconsider the six-month imprisonment without the option of a fine, citing his status as a first-time offender with no previous criminal convictions.
