Justice Abimbola Awogboro detained them after they pleaded not guilty to four charges brought against them by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), which accused them of harboring and employing two underage girls for domestic work between May and November 2023.

The prosecutor, Uzunwa I. Egonu, stated that their actions had negative effects on the physical, social, and psychological development of the two teenagers.

In addition to the child labor allegations, NAPTIP charged them with assaulting two agency officials, Ederibhalo Ajiegbe Elvis and Trust Oluwaseun Adekoye, and stealing a laptop and an iPhone 8 from them while they were performing their duties at the agency's office in GRA, Ikeja, on March 12.

After their plea, the prosecutor requested a trial date and urged the court to keep them in custody.

Their lawyer asked for a short adjournment to file bail applications.

Justice Awogboro adjourned the case until May 7.
