This follows recent mobilizations by various groups planning nationwide protests.

The NPF emphasizes that while the right to protest is protected, it is limited to peaceful demonstrations. The force is committed to safeguarding the rights of all citizens, including protesters, but will not tolerate the violent destruction of lives and property. Those intending to stage peaceful protests are advised to notify the police and request protection. Any deviation from peaceful protest will result in legal action.

The NPF also reminds the public that tampering with the national grid or disrupting the transmission of electricity is a criminal offense. Similarly, causing disruptions to other critical infrastructures, such as airports and hospitals, or engaging in violent picketing, is unacceptable and will attract severe consequences.

As a civil and responsive institution, the NPF is dedicated to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and State Command Commissioners of Police to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure robust security measures. These measures aim to prevent any breakdown of law and order and protect key infrastructures, ensuring that protests remain peaceful and lawful.

The police also appeal to parents and guardians to caution their wards against being influenced by individuals with intentions to incite violence and create anarchy. Such individuals are advised to abandon their unpatriotic plans.

The NPF remains committed to upholding citizens' rights while ensuring public order is maintained.
