Kidnappers in Kaduna State have abducted over 286 students and staff, demanding a staggering sum of N1 billion ($620,432) for their release.

The abduction took place on March 7 in Kuriga town. The kidnappers issued a threat to kill the victims within 20 days if the ransom is not paid. President Bola Tinubu has condemned the abduction and instructed security and intelligence agencies to immediately rescue the victims and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The kidnappers communicated their demands through a community leader named Jubril Aminu, who represents the families of the hostages.

Aminu stated that the terrorists demanded a total of N1 billion ransom for all the pupils, students, and staff of the school, with a 20-day ultimatum starting from the date of the kidnap. Failure to meet the ransom demand would result in the killing of all the students and staff.
