The captors of two students from the Federal University Wukari in Taraba State are requesting a ransom of N50 million for their release. Joshua Sardauna and Obianu Elizabeth were taken from a restaurant within the school's premises on Monday, April 1, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm.

Mrs. Ashu Agbu, the Head of Information and Protocol Unit at the university, confirmed this information during a phone call with journalists on Sunday.

According to Agbu, the abductors clarified that they were targeting the restaurant owner and not the staff, indicating their intention to return for him.

They have demanded the N50 million ransom for the release of the two students. Since the incident, security agencies and local youths have been searching the nearby forests and bush paths to apprehend the kidnappers. Agbu emphasized that they will continue their efforts until the students are safely rescued.

She also mentioned that an extensive meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 8, involving security agencies, as well as local, state, and federal government representatives, to address the ongoing insecurity affecting the institution.
