A tragic and shocking incident occurred in the village of Kate-Gamji in Adamawa State, Nigeria, where a man suffering from mental illness went on a rampage, killing eight people with a dagger and injuring several others.

The incident occurred on a Wednesday evening, with the man, identified as Ali Denham, reportedly attacking residents with a knife. After the attack, an angry mob reportedly lynched him.

The incident has sparked concerns about mental health care in Nigeria, as well as the need for better security measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring.

In a statement on Saturday, the police spokesperson in Adamawa State, Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and warned families against keeping mentally ill people at home rather than admitting them to psychiatric hospitals.

He also confirmed that the police are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Shelleng Local Government, Abubakar Musa Abba, paid condolences to the families of the victims, urging them to take the loss as God's will.
