The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed Abubakar Odah Akum as a commissioner and member of the State Executive Council (SEC). Akum will represent the Nasarawa Local Government Area (LGA) in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Abdullahi Balarabe, made the announcement during a plenary session on Wednesday in Lafia.

This decision comes after the House had asked Akum to submit his CV and appear before the house for screening. The confirmation is a significant step in establishing Akum's role in the SEC.

The House Majority Leader, Mohammed Omadefu, moved a motion for the confirmation of the commissioner-nominee after his appearance for screening.

The motion was seconded by the House Minority Leader, Luka Zhekaba. After the motion was seconded, the House unanimously voted to confirm the commissioner-nominee.

Onarigu Onah Kana and Hajara Danyaro Ibrahim, the two lawmakers from Nasarawa LGA, gave positive testimonies about the nominee and confirmed his capability to deliver in the position.
