Nigerian Pilgrim Dies in Mecca

The Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the death of Tawalkatu Alako, a Nigerian pilgrim from Jega Local Government Area. The board’s Executive Chairman, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday.

The deceased died on Saturday after a brief illness, and her funeral prayer took place at the Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Ka’aba).She was buried according to Islamic rites on the same day.

The chairman, on behalf of the Kebbi government, extended his heartfelt condolences to her immediate family, Kebbi pilgrims, and the entire people of the state. Aliyu-Enabo prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has also mourned the death of the pilgrim, with its Chairman/CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, condoling the Kebbi State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board and the pilgrim’s family. The commission began to airlifting pilgrims from Nigeria on May 15, and as of now, 20,154 out of the 65,000 pilgrims scheduled to be airlifted have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.
