He mentioned that his interest in swimming saved him from committing suicide. This location was chosen because many individuals who publicly committed suicide in Lagos jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge. The event, which took place in Lagos on March 30th, attracted a large number of attendees and had his medical team on standby to support him.

The Lagos state commissioner for youth and sports, Mobolaji Ogunlende, was also present to represent the state government and show solidarity. Dare swam the entire 11.8-kilometer length of the bridge without stopping, completing the swim in 2 hours and 33 minutes, leaving many impressed.
